Mandarin, Satsuma, Clementine, Tangerine
There are over 200 different varieties of mandarins, including tangerines, clementines and satsumas. The term «mandarin» simply means citrus that is small, orange, segmented and easy to peel. In fact, the original three citrus fruits are the mandarin, the citron and the pomelo. The sweet orange came from the mandarin and the pomelo.
The most popular types:
1. Satsuma. It is sweet and seedless, easy to peel. Fruit easily get damaged in shipment; therefore, not found in many stores.
2. Clementine. It is very sweet. More comfortable to peel than tangerines but not as easy as satsumas.
3.Tangerine. Tangerines have seeds, not as sweet as satsuma, and tougher skin to peel, compared to others.
